Everyone's United Nations is the official handbook describing the United Nations and its 17 intergovernmental agencies, their structures and activities from 1966 to 1978. It was a sequel to the eight edition of Everyman’s United Nations published in 1968 which covered the first 20 years, 1945 to1965. These two volumes constitute a basic history of the organization, still in print and widely used for reference and by libraries.
The UN Chronicle, produced by the United Nations Department of Global Communications, has served as the Organization’s flagship magazine since 1946, providing authoritative information and debate on the activities and meetings of the United Nations system.
The UN Chronicle features in-depth articles submitted by United Nations officials, international experts and policy-makers, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations (non-profits) and civil society from all parts of the world. Individual monthly issues focus on a wide variety of topics, including human rights and climate change. The print edition went quarterly in 2007 and was discontinued following the publication of a special 2018 double issue, when the magazine was moved to an all-digital format.
Monica was appointed Editor to succeed a director who had been taken ill. Although she was a much more junior officer, Monica stepped into his shoes and completed the assembly of this reference book, sourcing from writers in the affiliated agencies and many departments of the Secretariat. She pushed for the title to be changed from Everyman’s to Everyone’s. Monica was also Social and Economics (EcoSoc) Editor of The UN Chronicle within the UN’s Office of Public Information.
Monica was Editor of Economic and Social coverage, in approximately 1977.
