Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo play the fated couple in this 2018 National Theatre production. Simon Goodwin (Twelfth Night, Man and Superman, The Beaux’ Stratagem) directs a spectacle set in Ancient Rome and Alexandria, Egypt. 

Caesar and his assassins are dead. General Mark Antony now rules alongside the triumvirate, his fellow defenders of Rome. But on the fringes of a war-torn Empire, the seductive Egyptian Queen Cleopatra and Roman hero Mark Antony fall madly in love.  Antony forsakes his Roman Empire for the Queen, rushing headlong into divided loyalties,  war and tragedy.
